Convert Images to Base64 Encoding

Base64 encoding allows binary data like images to be embedded directly in text-based formats like HTML, CSS, and JSON. Instead of linking to an external image file, you can include the entire image as a Base64 string within your code. This is useful for small icons and images where eliminating an additional HTTP request improves page load performance.

When to Use Base64 Images

Base64 encoding is best suited for small images like icons, logos, and decorative elements (typically under 2–5KB). For larger images, the increased file size from Base64 encoding (about 33% larger than the original binary) outweighs the benefit of eliminating HTTP requests. For small inline SVGs and icons, Base64 embedding can meaningfully improve perceived performance.

Privacy Note

All image processing happens entirely in your browser using the FileReader API. Your images are never uploaded to any server. This ensures complete privacy — only you can see your images, and no data leaves your device.
