IP Address Lookup Tool
Every device connected to the internet has an IP (Internet Protocol) address β a unique numerical identifier that allows data to be routed correctly. Our IP Address Lookup tool lets you find your own public IP address or look up information about any IP address, including its geographic location, Internet Service Provider (ISP), time zone, and organization. This information is publicly available and is used by websites for analytics, security, and content localization.
IPv4 vs IPv6
IPv4 addresses are the traditional format (e.g., 192.168.1.1) β four groups of numbers from 0β255 separated by dots. With the internet running out of IPv4 addresses, IPv6 was created (e.g., 2001:0db8:85a3:0000:0000:8a2e:0370:7334) β eight groups of four hexadecimal digits. IPv6 provides a vastly larger address space and is gradually replacing IPv4.
Uses of IP Geolocation
IP geolocation data is used for many purposes: showing localized content, pricing in local currency, fraud detection, complying with regional regulations, cybersecurity investigations, and network troubleshooting. Note that IP geolocation is approximate β it typically identifies the general city or region but not an exact address. VPN users will see the VPN server's location rather than their physical location.
