JSON to CSV Converter

Converting JSON data to CSV format is a common task for developers, data analysts, and business users who need to import data into spreadsheet applications like Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, or business intelligence tools. Our JSON to CSV converter handles arrays of JSON objects, automatically detecting all keys to use as column headers and mapping values to the appropriate columns.

Handling Nested JSON

For flat JSON arrays (arrays of simple key-value objects), the conversion is straightforward. For nested JSON structures, the converter flattens the top-level keys into CSV columns. Values that are themselves objects or arrays will be stringified into the corresponding cell. If you need to handle deeply nested structures, consider flattening your JSON first using the JSON Formatter tool.

CSV Delimiters

The standard CSV delimiter is a comma, which is why it's called "Comma-Separated Values." However, if your data contains commas (like addresses or descriptions), semicolons or tabs are better choices. Tab-delimited files (TSV) are particularly common for data exchange between database systems. Our tool supports all four common delimiter types to ensure compatibility with your target application.

Opening CSV in Excel or Google Sheets

After downloading your CSV file, open Excel and use File > Import or simply double-click the .csv file. In Google Sheets, use File > Import > Upload to import the CSV file. Make sure the delimiter setting in the import dialog matches the delimiter you selected when generating the CSV.
